Henge is the winner of a 2019 Wallpaper* Design Award

Henge won the title of Wallpaper* Design Awards 2019 winner for the “Best earth tones” category with the Be Mine coffee table designed by Massimo Castagna, the brand’s artistic director and creative guide.

The coveted award given by the renowned magazine Wallpaper* celebrates objects, places, and people that have represented “the best of 2018”. Not only architects and designers but also stylists and creative individuals who have distinguished themselves for their innovation are celebrated as reference points for design, fashion, food, and the global lifestyle.

This recognition is very valuable for Henge and its artistic director Massimo Castagna, who consolidates the brand’s identity on an international level. The new Be Mine coffee table awarded by Wallpaper* is the evolution of the one presented in 2017 in application with sofa seats or with the D-Code table.

Designed to be central in the living area, the Be Mine table evolves from its original application, with edges in the iconic jagged shape, made in XL dimensions of 160×70 cm and 180×70 cm. Along with the polished brass or silver finishes, the construction is completed using the ground casting method.

The standard rectangular shape of the new XL version also provides another pairing with the Touch table, expanding the functions and possible uses. The modular object can be customized based on different needs and contexts. At the same time, it goes beyond the mere purpose of a piece of furniture by representing the brand’s philosophy and creative director.

Rare materials and manufacturing techniques, refined finishes, unusual dimensions and combinations, and material research are the foundation from which Henge takes its steps and thinks of its collections. Objects like the Be Mine table that contain a set of special features soar beyond their own function and become a real piece of contemporary art.

Henge presents the new collection at Miami Art Basel

On the occasion of the annual venue of Miami Art Basel, Henge shares this immersive creative environment, displaying the magnetic force of its collection, enriched with new crafted excellences, new precious materials and unexplored finishes. The brand communicates its distinct, strong identity into the sophisticated ambience of Solesdi showroom, located in the heart of the exclusive Miami’s Design District.

The incisive sculptural composition of the suspended Starlight, realized from antique sandcasting bronze and in black burnished brass, the geometrical game of intersections of the Polygonal lights and the handcrafted AirLight chandelier, realized by master glassmakers of Murano, are the expressions of the wide compositional possibilities. The eclecticism of the juxtapositions foresees daring and harmonious matches of rare marbles and stones with brass and silver, ancient techniques and natural treatments.

In the center of the living space, a combination of Primitive and Twistable coffee tables, an original, fascinating ensemble created by the organic porosity of the white Ostuni stone, emphasized by the close contact with the surface in burnished platinum. The Opus and Lailand sofas complete the space. Both have a strong personality with their generous, deep seats offering comfort and charm: the modern compact shape of Opus and the light structure of Lailand, with sandcasting bronze feet. The proportions of Hexagon and Voyage armchairs are enhanced by the exclusive quality of leather and fabric coverings. The low cabinet Side-X EVO is an example of the concise compendium of multiple encounters: inside the black eucalyptus thermos-treated wood, the top in veined Cappuccino marble and outside in hand burnished platinum.

Iconic pieces displayed are the Mushroom coffee tables, creation of the Studio Yabu Pushelberg, the Bistrot modular metal bookcase, expression of Henge’s style. Along the wall the Tangram, polygonal modular forms in black burnish brass, that give flexibility to vertical or horizontal configurations.

In the dining area the elegant silhouette of the Savannah chairs, designed by the Irish architect Stephen Tierney, in black wood and dark gray slate nabuk alternate with the robustness of the Ex-tra chairs around the Saetta table.  Henge brings to Miami a refined taste, a passionate research about expressiveness of natural materials lingering on exclusive methods of craft that empower all as the-one-a kind pieces.

Henge new openings in Dubai, Dallas and Shenzhen

Three new exclusive spaces will open the doors in the exciting contexts of Dubai, Shenzhen and Dallas, after the prestigious showcases of New York, Miami, Los Angeles, London and Shanghai.

Housed within the showroom’s 30,000 square-foot space, the Henge boutique features sleek and sophisticated living, dining and office environments, each enhanced by the brand’s striking lighting collections.

In elegant and sophisticated environments Henge, passionately dedicated to exploring and reach maximum expressiveness of natural materials, welcome to discover the new collection. All creations, result of Italian know-how, convey the force of an organic selection, molded to enrich as design complements the lifestyle scenarios. The brand’s history is a journey inside the secrets and the fascinating language of this emotional, visual and tactile experiences of weathered stones and fossil woods, remained buried for centuries, enhanced in their preciousness by processes and treatments grounded in the oldest techniques. Table tops, in cappuccino stone, titanium, silver brown wave or black lake stone, combined with heat treated oak, eucalyptus transmit the warm tones of their surfaces and tables as Soprano are able to add a signature of exclusivity to metropolitan environments.

Mood more incisive is expressed by the Saetta table, with the legs in sandcasting bronze and the top in stone. Its design affirms the natural beauty of contrasts: rough and smooth, dark and light, strong and delicate, are a thread that runs through all the collection designed by Massimo Castagna, Henge Creative Director. The porous surface of the Primitive coffee table’s white Ostuni top is emblematic representative of these organic stones, narrators of the passing time.

The intricate charm of one of the latest Henge’s creations, the Oxymoron dining table, embodies the ambitious paths of the company in the constant evolution of design experimentation. Its wooden micro-mosaic top, an exceptional, sartorial composition, is produced by layering of walnut, cut and then fused together by the hands of the most skilled brand’s artisans.

Titanium and Platinum burnished by hand, confer great emphasis to the pieces as the Bistrot bookshelf and the Side-X Evo cabinet. The contemporaneous, clean lines of the generous proportions of Lailand, Opus, Human sofas, dressed by nabuks, leathers and upholstery, offer luxury lounging. The assortment of leathers, dyed with natural colors, concur with the wrapping embrace of Exagon and Voyage armchairs

Lighting plays a suggestive role, lingering on metal finishes and enhancing the natural beauty of the materials: burnished brass and silver strips of the Tape Light stretch along the wall and the newborn Starlight, presented in a dynamic, sculptural composition.

In line with Henge’s natural philosophy: poetically inspired by the branches of the trees, the Savannah chair, artistic proposal of the Irish architect Stephen Tierney, in smooth grey walnut or dark stained and sand blasted ash, offers an extraordinary light and comfortable seat. The organic complementarity combination of the Mushroom coffee tables, creation of the famous design studio Yabu Pushelberg, conceived in sand casting brass or bronze. The new H-Silver shiny finishing of the Be-Mine coffee table superbly stresses the minimalism of the shape obtained through the handmade process of sand casting.

Collaboration with master glassmakers of the Venetian island of Murano has led to forge extraordinary pieces including the polyhedral canes of the Air Light chandelier. Each piece is individually handmade and can be personalized and customized according to the clients’ requests.

Henge Preview at Salone Internazionale del Mobile 2018

At the 2018 edition of the Milan Design Week Henge presents a selection of furniture and accessories in three prestigious locations: a booth at the Salone Internazionale del Mobile; the Atelier in via della Spiga dedicated to customization and an exhibition space in via Durini, Milan’s heart of design.

The precious hands of Henge’s master craftsmen combined with a continuous research has allowed the brand to bring ancient techniques back to life – such as briar-root micro-mosaics or special handmade fusions – and new original materials, as the exclusively selected black lake stone or fossil woods.

The evolution of the identity of the brand, headed by the Creative Director Massimo Castagna, is oriented towards the perfection of materials and uniqueness of creations, recoiling from the mere function of furniture, transforming into a manifesto of a cognitive and experimental path dedicated to the excellence of craftsmanship, which it integrates to adapt to different sectors, such as fine jewelry.

Henge presents over 30 new products in Milan, including the Oxymoron Table and the Starlight lamp.

Oxymoron Table is the protagonist of the new designs created for the dining area. The table, characterized by an organic shape, features a large handmade briar-root mosaic top standing on antiqued cast bronze legs that are directly incorporated into it. Henge lamps are lighting architectures that fill the wide aerial volumes. The new Starlight is an example of an antiqued cast bronze lighting architecture composed of “Y” shaped arms arranged on two levels. Available also in the chandelier version, the lamp is presented in the booth at the Salone del Mobile as a scenic suspended horizontal composition.

Through completely customizable and often modular products, Henge expands the boundaries of design, intentionally straying from the limitations imposed by serial industrial productions. The catalogue becomes the starting point for endless compositional harmonies, whose codes communicate with rare techniques and materials, precious finishing, non-standard dimensions and combinations.
